Black Walnut Farms is located 9/10 of a mile south of the historic village of Wickford. Rhode Island.  It was established as a horse farm in 1984 and has been under the direction and ownership of the Golding family since that time.  The farm is documented to have been in existence for over 230 years, and perhaps longer and is located on the old Toll Road used by travelers in Colonial America. 

      The main barn is a converted cow barn with 10 (10x10) matted stalls,one is a 10 x 20 birthing stall which utilizes a removable wall when in "baby mode."  Six of the 10 have Dutch doors that open to the outside to facilitate the horse's innate curiosity and "need to know" what's going on!

     In addition to the main barn, there are 2 small barns; one with 3 outside stalls currently utilized as run in sheds & one with 3 (12 x 16) box stalls.    Our paddocks are fenced with either polyvinyl 3 board fencing, along with electric fencing, or  wood planking  and electric fencing.  There are heated Nelson automatic waterers and we are testing a new, non electric auto watering system utilizing geothermal heat to prevent freezing.  Our heated/air conditioned tack room welcomes you after a long day.  

     Our lighted outdoor arena is 80 x 160 with a sand footing.  Our 70 x 140 indoor lighted arena is insulated, quiet &  airy, with a Permaflex footing.  The farm is set on 35 acres of private land with some nice training trails on site, bordering on Secret Lake which has a small public beach access for swimming with your horse.  There are nearby public trails for your riding pleasure. We have 10 fenced fields for turnout; horses are turned out at 6:00 am daily, 7 days a week.
